Lay laundry out on the floor or bed so every item is visible — no hidden layers.
Do this
Shoot straight down
Hold your phone directly above the pile for a clear, unobstructed bird's-eye view.
Avoid this
Too close or cropped
If items are cut off at the edges, Destiny misses them — back up until the whole pile fits.
Avoid this
Side angle or clumped heap
A shot from the side hides layers inside the pile and throws off the weight estimate.
About the Estimate
How Destiny estimates weight
Visual analysis
Destiny identifies garment types from your photo — shirts, jeans, towels, sheets — and estimates how many of each are visible.
Fabric density
Each garment type has a known weight range. Denim is heavier than cotton; towels add up fast. Density and thickness are factored in.
Volume estimation
Pile height and spread affect total weight. Destiny estimates the 3D volume of the pile to calibrate the final number.
Final weight is always measured on a calibrated scale at pickup. The AI estimate is for planning purposes only.
